BBC1 Top Of The Pops 7.25 - 8.00 pm

Sparks were due to appear to promote This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Two Of Us on tonight's show but since they were from the USA their work permits had to be checked first. The paperwork was not in order so the producer had to cancel their appearance, despite the fact that they had appeared on the the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test some time before. The Rubettes replaced them, making their TV debut.

Hosted by Dave Lee Travis (but the TOTP2 database states that it's Tony Blackburn.)

Theme - Whole Lotta Love

Genesis - I Know What I Like (Pan's People dance routine) Charisma Records' plugger Judd Lander had persuaded the label to release an edit of the track as a single. Pops' producer Robin Nash wanted Genesis to appear on the show, but they wouldn't do it.
