NB The first show in ten weeks due to the Musician Union strike and the Olympics. The guest host idea would only last a few weeks, while the chart shown is now the top thirty and is seen in the middle of the show. Music news will be slotted in between each record and clips from the top ten will be shown before the number one record is announced. About twenty people will be allowed to dance, while everybody else (about eighty) will be seated. Producer Phil Bishop explained to the Daily Mirror “As you travel down from the North of England to the south people seem to move less and less when they dance these days. Most of our studio audience come from London and we faced the problem of people almost standing still”.
