Pop Music on British Television 1955 - 1999

Another tea-time magazine and activities show, similar to Rediffusion's Tuesday Rendezvous or the BBC's Blue Peter, hosted by actor and DJ Pete Murray. "With comedy, fashion, pops, facts, nature, drama, off-beat and people" as TV Times described it. Tony Bastable, later to co-host Magpie would on occasion replace Murray when on holiday. The TV Times claimed "This new series, which is aimed at 10 - 16 year olds, will not fall into the trap of presenting educational material disguised as entertainment", clearly declaring itself as the anti-Blue Peter. They also promised a monthly discussion on the pop scene.

Little is known about the show as nothing is thought to exist, but it played host to Eddy Arnold, Lulu, Eric Burdon, Manfred Mann, David & Jonathan and others.

The show was networked across ITV. The weekly TV Times description remained the same from start to end, so doesn't give much indication as to what it could have specifically included.
