Border Television, the ITV franchise based in Carlisle hadn't really contributed much to the ITV network, except for married couples game show Mr and Mrs, an all-star version of which was still running in 2017. It tendered for some Channel 4 shows and this one was picked up.

APB featured production names familiar to fans of The Tube and had the theme tune written by Johnny Marr. Gaz Top (Gareth Evans) from weekend ITV kids' show Get Fresh was the host and featured interviews with many of the top names of the day, presumably interviewed in London, but not much else. It was notable for giving The Sugarcubes with singer Bjork their UK TV debut.

This Sunday lunchtime lasted one series only.
