Pop Music on British Television 1955 - 1999

A Reg Watson produced show for ATV with music as its core. The first resident group was Steve Brett and the Mavericks, a successful and well established Midlands band, who would play live each week in front of the show’s audience.

From the TV Times 29th September 1963 “Each week Steve and the boys will be joined by another Midlands group to present music with a beat and sometimes music that's just a little off-beat”. A later version of Steve Brett and the Mavericks featured Neville ‘Noddy’ Holder, but this would be after the show finished. The show seemed to pack in quite of bit considering it was only twenty minutes long.

Also regulars on the show were The Senoritas, an all-female beat group, who on hiring a male rhythm guitarist changed their name to The Sugarbeats in March 1964.

A list of performers was assembled by John Poole on put up on the Missing Episodes page.
