HIT PARADE

BBC
1952 - 18th August 1956

A British version of the American hit show. Produced by Francis Essex. Dancers and other performers would act out the lyrics of the chosen song, which was a cheaper alternative to getting the original singer to perform live. The show was dropped, but relaunched in October 1955 just after ITV begins transmission. Occasionally real singers would appear with Petula Clark and Dennis Lotis regular guests.
