TV Pop Diaries
Pop Music on British Television 1955 - 1999

Intended as a fortnightly look at the pop scene through the eyes of teenagers in Northern Ireland, but the irregular broadcast dates suggest it might have been some kind of filler show.

A report in the Belfast Telegraph 13th September 1963 claimed "The format of UTV's forthcoming pop records programme 'Now Hear This' has been revised, thank goodness, to give it a different slant from so many other items of this kind. The idea is to take a different teenager each week and follow him or her about for a day, on film, to a background of the subject's favourite pop discs. A hit or miss? It had possibilities."

A further report in November suggested "'Now Hear This' has switched to a more documentary approach, but although this may give it more body for any stray adults who may be watching. I feel that the ones who really dig a studio programme, with dancing and 'live' performances - 'Preview' style." Preview had been an Ulster-TV arts review show that was dropped from the schedules in August 1963.

The schedules suggest only four shows were broadcast.
