Pop Music on British Television 1955 - 1999

Hosted by Raymond Boyd the show invited pop stars visiting Aberdeen, and became of the long lost shows of the time like Discs-A-Gogo.

Information is difficult to get hold of, but the show must have lasted at least five years according to a clip from STV online. It was amazing that the show lasted as long as it did during the most important time in the formation of British pop music, outlasting all of Jack Good's shows put together.

The musical guests were mainly an excuse to get the audience dancing, very much like American Bandstand, which Discs-A-Gogo was successfully doing the other end of the country. The show also doubled up as a dance contest between youth clubs.

The musical director was George Keenan who also had a career recording more traditional Scottish dance music.
